Beauty mistakes to avoid

We all want to look great, but there are so many things that we do that stop us from looking at our best. In this blog we’re going to look at the easily avoidable mistakes you’re making that cause havoc with your skin.

Not removing makeup before bed

If there is one beauty rule to always follow it’s that you should never wear makeup to bed. Makeup clogs up your skin and blocks oxygen intake, this causes wrinkles, loss of tone and elasticity and accelerates the ageing process. Make sure to remove your makeup using a gentle cleanser and use a toner. Your skin will thank you forever for it.

 

Not controlling stress

Stress causes all kinds of problems and it one of them is causing you to look run down. Destressing causes you to relax, which makes all of your body function better, including your skin.

 

Not exercising enough

Exercise not only helps us keep weight under control, it releases endorphins that make us feel better and it helps to rejuvenate cells. Physical activity causes oxygen and nutrients in the blood reach our capillaries more effectively. 20-30 minutes of exercise a day, four times a week is enough to make a difference. Why not walk to work?

 

Avoiding early nights

Sleep is essential for rejuvenating our bodies. While we’re sleeping our bodies produce a growth hormone and that is what helps to repair and rebuild our cells. Melatonin, an anti-aging hormone is also produced when we sleep, so get to your bed early and enjoy the natural anti-ageing products your body produces.

 

Don’t smoke

Smoking is amongst the worst things you can do for your health and apart from lung cancer, heart problems and other medical problems it also ages your skin. Cigarettes smoke causes changes in the elasticity of your skin, reduces vitamin A levels and moisture on your skin.

 

Over-exfoliating

Exfoliating is great, it helps remove dead skin cells and helps us look younger but doing it too often can cause your skin to lose its ability to retain water. This causes your skin to look dry and can cause wrinkles. Find an exfoliator that’s gentle and only exfoliate twice a week to reap the benefits.

 

Using harsh cleansers

Cleansers come in all types and some of them are far more dangerous to your skin than others. Chemicals can cause your skin to lose its lipids which can cause wrinkles. Choose a gentle cleanser that is suited to your skin type to allow your skin to function the way it’s supposed to.

 

Avoiding sunscreen

UV light causes all kinds of damage to your skin. It penetrates the skin and causes it to lose its elasticity, making it lose its shape and allows it to be damaged. There is a lot of foundation that offers UV protection, so make sure that solar radiation is being reflected. Your skin will thank you for it.
